Safe House

Safe House ~ There is usually something phenomenal about a Denzel Washington movie. And I mean besides the always excellent acting. There's an unexpected twist, a shock ending, dazzling special effects, or top notch writing and/or direction. Safe House doesn't really deliver, on that level at least. Here I felt like I was watching a mediocre Denzel movie with an adequate Ryan Reynolds performance. Or is that a mediocre Ryan Reynolds movie with an adequate Denzel performance?

One thing is for sure, once this one gets rolling, this one never stops. The ride is full force power drive action thriller, and I repeat, it never stops until it slows at the very end. Denzel plays CIA traitor Tobin Frost who surrenders himself to a safe house in South Africa to protect himself from his enemies. Reynolds is his keeper, and when the safe house is attacked, not only are they on the run, but also trying to figure out who set them up. It's an uneasy buddy flick with buddies who can't trust each other - a nice twist.

Safe House has wonderful cinematography and no nonsense chase scenes, fistfights, and gunfights. If you plan on seeing it, do your bathroom duties first, and get ready to hold your breath, this is a jet propelled bulldozer on rollercoaster rails.

Smash Palace was the final edition of this band, and rumor has it they are still around from time to time.

"Living on the Borderline" was released in 1985 and I heard it out in clubs, and on other college radio stations in the area.

Biff Bam Pop! Announces Open Call For Short Horror/Thriller/Suspense Anthology Submissions

Toronto, ON – Writers of horror, thriller and suspense... take note! The publishing team at BIFF BAM POP! has announced an open call for submissions to be considered for their Short Story Anthology.

With the success of last year’s Biff Bam Boo comics collection, pop-culture outlet BIFF BAM POP! has issued an open call for submissions to this year’s horror, thriller and suspense collection. The finished Anthology will feature hand-picked short fiction from authors big and small.

“For any contributing writer, the BIFF BAM POP Short Fiction Anthology is a prime opportunity to have your stories read by thousands of readers and collaborators,” says Andy Burns, Editor-In-Chief, BIFF BAM POP!. “We’re specifically looking for imaginative fiction with elements of the horror, thriller and/or suspense genres... with an open call for submissions, we’re sure our audience will deliver something amazing.”

Writers must submit their original prose before 11:59pm April 1st, 2012 deadline. A panel of BIFF BAM POP! representatives will review every submission received, and those selected will be published in the Short Story Anthology to be released this Fall.
