I liked that this version of Superman seems to harken back much more to the Golden Age version of the character who was also a tough-talking, grittier guy than the squeaky clean "boy scout" he's come to be portrayed as...<br /><br />"Animal Man" was my first time reading the solo adventures of this character (having never read the Grant Morrison/Vertigo run) and it was a great introduction to the character for ME. I liked that the book didn't start in the middle of a battle but had a slow burn as we saw a simple domestic drama play out with Buddy's family.
